Week 1- AND WE BACK!!!

Welcome back everyone to another exciting year in the league. Happy to have everyone here. I’ll try to be more consistent with providing a weekly wrap up. Without further ado, here is the weekly update for Week 1.

The NFL season finally returned after a long and storied off-season. The draft came and went as some felt thoroughly pleased with their selections. We caught up with the manager of Team Hunt420. He had this to say about his new squad, “I kinda like my squad.” Team Hunt420 looks to improve upon their 3rd place finish and finally grab the title for the first time in team history. As one manager felt confident in their team after the draft, there was another that felt quite the opposite and used an unorthodox yet familiar tactic of letting “Jesus take the wheel.” Toxic Tevin’s Eleven had hoped to start this season on a good note, but things quickly unraveled off the field due to extra-curricular activities which has bled into questionable on-field decisions. After the dust finally settled, the manager of the troubled squad reflected and even took accountability for the state of his team by exclaiming to reporters that his “team is ass.”
The vibes quickly switched up as Week 1 got underway with the returning champs, Team Bigblack74, led by the reigning Super Bowl MVP, Jalen Hurts, kicking the season off. They flashed their new hardware and jewelry before taking the field against their opponent. Team Bigblack74 looked to continue their winning ways by taking a small lead against a team that fought its way out of the toilet bowl, Team ColeWorldNoRelation. As the week went on, the tide began to change as Team ColeWorldNoRelation handled the defending champs. Team Bigblack74 will look to get back on track in Week 2, while Team ColeWorldNoRelation will attempt to start a winning streak as they face the newly named Swifties. Speaking of the Swifties, big year last year for the fan club, not so much for the actual team due to their embarrassing last place finish. Though, with a new season, comes new hope for the rebounding team. It appears that may be the case as they saw their first victory since Week 13 of last season. They defeated Joe Buckyourself 126.32-91.88. Justin Herbert led the way with 35.42 points. AJ Brown did his team no favors by only posting 1.80 points. It was nice to see Brown get his cardio in, but I’m sure the manager of Joe Buckyourself was shaking with rage as he watched Brown do his annual disappearing act for the Birds. There is still hope for the squad due to its construction, but changes were quickly made on Wednesday as Coleston Loveland was removed from the team. He is set to clear waivers and Harold Fannin will step in to the vacated role. In other news, 2 games were decided by a combined total of 2.90 points. The inaugural champ, Njigbas With Attitude took on T-GOAT WRINGER in an exciting matchup.

It went down to the wire, but it would be a Derrick Henry untimely fumble that cost the Ravens and T-GOAT WRINGER the victory in Week 1. Hoping to at least replicate their success from last year, T-GOAT WRINGER will attempt to continue their high scoring ways in hopes of it resulting into a win in Week 2 as they face Team Chenzzzzo. The other nail bitter was between Team Sanders32 and SkeeeYee!, teams that were in the bottom half of the league standings last year. This one was far from a mid-off. Both teams fought hard delivering back and forth haymakers, but the disappointing Joe Burrow performance and the head scratching move to start Mike Gesicki proved too much to overcome for Team Sanders32.SkeeeYee! escaped with a narrow victory, 139.02-138.02 and they plan to carry that momentum into Week 2 against the controversial Toxic Tevin’s Eleven. SkeeeYee!’s aforementioned Week 2 opponent, Toxic Tevin’s Eleven, had a lot of drama heading into this week’s bout against the new franchise of the league, Remember The Titan. And just like the Titans, Remember the Titan were hopeful to experience early franchise success by starting with some sort of a winning streak. Though, Toxic Tev’s gang put that to halt with ease behind a monster performance from their controversial pick, Josh Allen. He proved why QB’s should be picked in the first 2 rounds like in the early 00’s by putting up a 40-burger against a defense that was believed to be formidable. Remember the Titan couldn’t remember to set their lineup as they forgot to replace Joe Mixon, who is currently on the PUP. That would cost them the game as Zay Flowers was seen fuming on the sidelines after finishing as the WR2 of the week. Hopefully Remember the Titan can prevent an early implosion by looking past their mistakes and bouncing back in a real way.
Toxic Tevin’s Eleven may have dodged a bullet, but a win is a win and at the moment the haters are silent. The last match of the slate has been a bit of a lopsided rivalry between TeamHunt420 and Team Chenzzzzo. Both teams started last year against each other with Team Chenzzzzo running away with the victory. Team Hunt420 sought revenge in Week 12, but a 31.70 Courtland Sutton performance would give Team Chenzzzzo the edge over for Team Hunt420. They were projected to meet again in the finals, but just ike what Orlando did to Bron in ‘09 when he was set to meet Kobe in the finals that year, Team BigBlack74 and T-GOAT WRINGER spoiled those plans for the the top 2 teams in 2024. Alas, the two teams meet again in Week 1, and to the delight of Team Chenzzzzo, it was the same result. They were able to clutch the win while holding off a Lamar Jackson 35-point barrage for Team Hunt420. The lopsided rivalry continues as it is now 3-0 in favor of Team Chenzzzzo. Team Hunt420’s underwhelming performance has forced the manager to make moves to bolster the roster. They take on Njigbas With Attitude in the upcoming week as they strive to avenge their Week 1 loss.
Week 1 is in the books. So much football left to be played. Changes will be made and teams will rebound or continue their success. A lot of surprises were on full display in Week 1. Some may be fools gold and others just may be the real deal. Looking forward to Week 2 as more will reveal itself.
